SPECULATED

Sciurus niger

Leonida's largest tree squirrel, nearly twice the size of a gray with a black-and-white head.

Sherman's Fox Squirrel is a Florida subspecies, nearly twice the size of the common gray squirrel with dramatic black-and-white facial markings. They prefer open pine flatwoods over dense forests, making them rare but striking sights in rural Leonida.
