Corn Snake 105

Corn Snake

ESPECULADO

Pantherophis guttatus

A beautifully patterned non-venomous rat snake often mistaken for a copperhead and killed on sight.

The Corn Snake is one of Leonida's most beautiful native snakes, ranging from orange to deep red with black-bordered blotches. They're beneficial rodent predators, though their vague resemblance to the copperhead (which doesn't occur in peninsular Florida) leads to unjustified killings.
