Limpkin 125
Limpkin
ESPECULADOAramus guarauna
A snail-eating wetland bird whose piercing nighttime screams have convinced countless Leonida tourists they're being murdered.
The Limpkin is a specialist apple-snail predator whose nocturnal calls have been compared to a woman being murdered, a banshee, and 'hell itself opening up'. Their numbers have recently boomed due to the invasive Island Apple Snail, a rare ecological win for the species.
