Red-Shouldered Hawk 42

Red-Shouldered Hawk

ESPECULADO

Buteo lineatus

Leonida's loudest hawk, announcing its suburban territory with a piercing repeated scream.

The Red-Shouldered Hawk is Leonida's most common woodland raptor, frequently seen perched on fence posts and power lines along suburban edges. Its piercing 'kee-aah' call is so frequently imitated by Blue Jays that hikers can never be quite sure which one is actually present.
