Arguably North America's most beautiful duck, nesting in tree cavities above Leonida's cypress swamps.
The Wood Duck is among North America's most ornately plumaged ducks, the males wearing an iridescent green-and-chestnut helmet that seems almost painted. They're one of few ducks that nest in tree cavities, with newly-hatched ducklings famously jumping from their nest trees to reach the water below.
