Eastern Cottontail Rabbit 72

Eastern Cottontail Rabbit

ESPECULADO

Sylvilagus floridanus

A small brown rabbit that feeds every hawk, coyote, and fox in Leonida.

The Eastern Cottontail is Leonida's most common rabbit, forming the foundation of the food web for most of the state's predators. Their explosive breeding rate keeps them abundant despite heavy predation pressure, a balance known as the 'Cottontail Contract' among rural hunters.
