Barracuda

SPECULATED

Sphyraena barracuda

A torpedo-shaped predator with razor teeth that patrols Leonida's reefs like a finned switchblade.

The Great Barracuda is Leonida's most intimidating reef predator, a torpedo-shaped fish with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. They patrol reef edges and wrecks with an unnerving stillness before exploding into strikes at speeds up to 36 mph. Their aggressive curiosity toward shiny objects has led to numerous encounters with divers and snorkelers wearing jewelry — encounters the barracuda invariably wins.
