Black Vulture 41
Black Vulture
SPECULATEDCoragyps atratus
A gregarious carrion eater that gathers on Leonida overpasses in unnerving numbers.
The Black Vulture is less graceful and more social than its Turkey Vulture cousin, often seen in large flocks on highway overpasses, garbage dumps, and abandoned lots. Its habit of occasionally damaging rubber and leather on parked vehicles is a unique Leonida nuisance.
