Deep in the swampy sprawl of Grassrivers — Leonida's answer to the Everglades — this ranch sits on twenty acres of land that most sane people wouldn't touch. The main house is a weathered two-story clapboard structure with a wraparound porch, ceiling fans that creak like they're begging for mercy, and enough mosquito netting to outfit a small army. The real value is in its isolation: the nearest neighbor is three miles of gator-infested swamp away, and the only road in is a dirt track that floods every time it rains. A converted barn serves as a three-car garage, big enough to hide vehicles or stage equipment for jobs out in the countryside. An airboat dock at the back of the property provides quick access to the waterways that snake through Grassrivers, and if you dig around the property long enough, you might find the entrance to an underground bunker left behind by the previous owner — a paranoid survivalist who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
