A massive oceanic turtle whose nesting females haul themselves onto Leonida's Atlantic beaches each summer.

The Loggerhead is Leonida's most common nesting sea turtle, with tens of thousands of nests laid each summer along the Atlantic coast. Their massive heads house jaws powerful enough to crush conch shells, their primary food. Strictly protected by state and federal law.
