Viceport Lighthouse
CONFIRMEDLandmark — Port Vice City
The century-old lighthouse marking the entrance to Vice City's harbor, now a tourist photo spot that's still an active navigation aid.
The Viceport Lighthouse has been guiding ships into Vice City's harbor since 1902, and despite GPS, radar, and modern navigation rendering it nearly obsolete, the thing still works — the light still turns, the Fresnel lens still throws its ten-second-interval beam out to sea. The keeper's cottage at the base has been converted into a small museum covering a hundred and twenty years of maritime history, including the 1926 hurricane that snapped the original wooden access bridge, the rum-running era that kept the harbor busy through Prohibition, and the various sinkings, rescues, and legal disputes that have accumulated in the rocks around the base. The breakwater is a local fishing spot with a fiercely enforced unofficial pecking order among the regulars, and the cliffside around the lighthouse is where generations of Vice City couples have taken their sunset engagement photos and, occasionally, their breakups.
