An old fisherman at the Vice Beach pier offers to teach you the art of fishing — Leonida style.

Not everything in Leonida involves gunfire and getaway driving. Down at the Vice Beach pier, an old-timer named Ray has been fishing the same stretch of water since before the condos went up and the tourists arrived. He'll tell you that himself, at length, whether you ask or not. 'Gone Fishing' is a breezy introduction to GTA VI's fishing mechanics, which span everything from casual pier fishing to deep-sea expeditions. Ray walks you through the basics — casting, reading the water, setting the hook, and fighting a fish to the boat — with the laid-back patience of a man who has absolutely nowhere else to be. Your first catch will be a modest channel catfish, but the real challenge comes when something much bigger hits the line. Ray's been after this particular fish for two decades, and whether you land it or watch your line snap is a matter of timing and skill. Completing the mission unlocks fishing as a permanent side activity across all of Leonida's waterways, from the swamps of Grassrivers to the deep blue offshore waters. It's also a surprisingly effective way to make money — rare catches fetch premium prices from specialty buyers.
