Cottonmouth Snake 31

Cottonmouth Snake

ESPECULADO

Agkistrodon piscivorus

A venomous water moccasin that opens its white mouth as a threat display, and it is absolutely not bluffing.

The Cottonmouth, or Water Moccasin, is Leonida's most commonly encountered venomous snake, found in and around every body of water in the state. Named for the white interior of its mouth displayed as a threat, this semi-aquatic pit viper is notoriously aggressive and will stand its ground rather than retreat. Its cytotoxic venom causes severe tissue damage, making every swamp wade in Leonida a calculated risk.
