Hammerhead Shark 7
Hammerhead Shark
ESPECULADOSphyraena mokarran
A bizarre-looking predator that proves evolution has a sense of humor but also a taste for violence.
The Great Hammerhead Shark is one of the most distinctive predators in Leonida's offshore waters. Its bizarre T-shaped head houses electroreceptors that detect the faintest electrical signals from prey hiding in the sand. Growing up to 20 feet long, these formidable hunters patrol the deeper reef systems and open water, occasionally venturing close to shore during stingray season.
