Kalaga Overlook
ESPECULADOPunto de interés — Mount Kalaga
The signature scenic overlook at Mount Kalaga's summit, offering panoramic views of the Leonida interior and a convenient pull-off for both tourists and dumping bodies.
Kalaga Overlook is the literal high point of Leonida — a scenic observation deck perched at the mountain's summit where on a clear day you can see all the way to the Vice City skyline, the blue haze of Lake Leonida, and, if you squint, something shiny that might be the Keys bridge. The deck has the standard national-park furniture: coin-op binoculars, interpretive signs explaining the watersheds, and a plaque dedicated to a governor nobody can remember. Tourists stop here for sunset photos, hikers use it as a turnaround point, and certain other visitors have found that a scenic overlook with a cliff, a twenty-space parking lot, and no surveillance cameras is exactly what they needed. Rangers have noted with mild dismay that the number of vehicles reported abandoned here annually is wildly disproportionate to the park's visitor count.
