How Long Is GTA 6? Story Length and Playtime

Rockstar has not published an official length for Grand Theft Auto VI. The best figure available is about 80 hours, which Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson reportedly gave as the length of his own playthrough, including optional goals with narrative consequences.

What the 80 hours means

• It is one developer’s run, not a measured average.
• It includes optional goals, so a story-only run will be shorter.
• A developer knows where everything is, so a first-time player could take longer.

• The map is about twice the size of GTA V, according to Rockstar’s Aaron Garbut.
• The Extended Look shows a long list of activities, from scuba diving to basketball.
• Rockstar has said the main story does not cover every part of Leonida, leaving whole areas for free roam.
• More than 170 animal species, some tracked as rare or legendary, add a collecting layer.
