Quick fixes
- 01 Check it's unlocked where you are GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time, so it won't start before then even if it's out somewhere else. Unlock time by country →
- 02 Check PlayStation or Xbox status If PlayStation Network or the Xbox network is having trouble, sign-in, downloads and store checks can all fail. Nothing to fix on your side: wait it out. PSN status →
- 03 Fully restart the game and console Close GTA 6 completely, then restart the console (a full restart, not rest mode). It clears most stuck sign-ins and loading screens.
- 04 Make sure the download has finished The game won't launch while the pre-load or an update is still installing. Check the downloads queue and free up space if it has stalled. Storage guide →
- 05 Check your own connection Restart your router, try a wired connection if you can, and test another online game or app to rule out your home network.
Still downloading? The pre-load guide covers timings and storage, and GTA 6 patch notes tracks the day-one update.

Quick answers
Is GTA 6 down right now?
We haven't seen any GTA 6 server problems reported. For live platform status, check PlayStation Network status, Xbox status and @RockstarSupport on X.
When do the GTA 6 servers go live?
GTA 6 launches 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Store listings show a rolling midnight-local unlock, starting in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on 18 November and finishing in Mexico at 06:00 UTC on 19 November.
Why can't I play GTA 6 yet?
Usually it simply isn't midnight where you are yet, or the pre-load or day-one update hasn't finished installing. If both are fine, check PlayStation Network or Xbox status, then fully restart the console.

Rockstar hasn't announced an online mode for GTA VI, and Take-Two has described the 19 November launch as single-player. GTA Online on GTA V carries on as a separate game.
Where can I check PSN, Xbox and Rockstar status?
PlayStation Network: status.playstation.com. Xbox: support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status. Rockstar: support.rockstargames.com/servicestatus and @RockstarSupport on X.
