Will GTA 6 Have Online at Launch?
Is GTA 6 Online available on November 19? What Take-Two's CEO said about a single-player launch, what Rockstar has not shown, and what happens to GTA Online on GTA V.
GTA 6 launches as a single-player game. Rockstar has not announced, shown or named any online mode for Grand Theft Auto VI, and Take-Two’s CEO has described the 19 November launch as a single-player experience.
What has been said
- Take-Two, 17 September 2026: CEO Strauss Zelnick told shareholders GTA VI arrives on 19 November as a single-player experience, and that no recurrent consumer spending is anticipated with the launch, according to press reports of the meeting.
- Take-Two, August 2026: Zelnick confirmed Rockstar will keep supporting GTA Online on GTA V after GTA VI arrives.
- Rockstar: the Extended Look showed no multiplayer, and no Newswire post mentions an online mode for GTA VI.
- PlayStation listing: shows one player with no online multiplayer entry.
What this means
- You do not need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core to play GTA VI at launch.
- GTA Online on GTA V continues as a separate game.
- A GTA VI online mode is widely expected eventually, given GTA Online’s history, but there is no date, name or feature list.
What to ignore
Claims about GTA VI Online player counts, release windows, character transfers or “beta sign-ups” are unconfirmed. Online beta sign-ups are a common scam; see the scam watch.
