Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on 15 October 2026, five weeks before the November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The trailer appeared at 9 a.m. Eastern on Rockstar's YouTube channel, X account and the official GTA VI site without a countdown or teaser.
The official synopsis is short: Jason and Lucia take an easy score in Vice City that goes wrong and pulls them into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida. The trailer opens on Jason reflecting on his past, then a call from Lucia, and moves into a fast montage of a bank vault being blown open, an armed crew emerging from the water, nightclub scenes, police confrontations and quieter moments between the two leads, including a shot that lingers on Lucia's ankle monitor.
Leonida Intel context
This is a mood piece rather than a systems reveal. The Extended Look already covered mechanics. Treat the trailer as story framing and a soundtrack announcement, and use the frame lab for anything location-specific.
The music is the headline detail. Rockstar credits Justice as the game's original score composers, and the trailer debuts Flower in a Hurricane, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The track also appears on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the 34-track original album releasing alongside the game.
Rockstar's video page carries a Plays Best On PS5 badge and an ESRB Mature rating with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Nudity and In-Game Purchases descriptors. The page does not list a runtime; press coverage puts it at roughly 90 seconds. Rockstar also did not restate a capture platform on the launch-trailer page, although the Extended Look was captured on PlayStation 5.
What the trailer does not do is change the retail record. Release date, platforms, editions and pre-load timing are unchanged. The Leonida Intel Trailer Lab now has a launch-trailer frame set with story, location and character notes.
