How to Cancel a GTA 6 Pre-Order and Get a Refund

You can cancel a GTA 6 pre-order, but the rules differ by store and the pre-load can end your refund window on PlayStation. Pre-load opens on 12 November 2026, so decide before then.

Policies below are summarised from Sony’s and Microsoft’s published terms and reporting on them. They vary by country; your local store policy and consumer law take priority.

PlayStation Store

• You can cancel a digital pre-order if you have not started downloading the main content. Pre-loading counts as downloading.
• If automatic downloads are on, the pre-load may start by itself on 12 November. Turn it off under Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Downloads if you are undecided.
• To cancel, use PlayStation’s support cancel a pre-order route for your region. Refunds generally go to the original payment method or your PlayStation wallet.
• Any pre-order bonus that is already accessible stops working when you cancel.

Xbox Store

• Microsoft lets you cancel a digital pre-order through your Microsoft account order history. Self-service cancellation is generally available until about 10 days before release, which is around 9 November 2026 for GTA 6.
• Inside that window, use the refund request option in order history or contact Xbox Support under Billing.
• Microsoft reviews refund requests case by case.

Rockstar Store and retailers

• Rockstar Store: check the Rockstar Store order page and its refund terms. Code-in-box physical orders follow the store’s physical returns policy until the code is revealed or redeemed.
• Amazon and other retailers: physical pre-orders can usually be cancelled before dispatch from your orders page. Once the code is redeemed, it is no longer returnable.

Before you cancel

• Switching editions? On PlayStation you can upgrade Standard to Ultimate later, so you may not need to cancel. See Standard vs Ultimate.
• Switching platform? Cancel first, then re-order before 20 November to keep the Vintage Vice City Pack.
• Worried about a scam purchase? If you bought from an unofficial site, contact your bank. See the scam watch.
