GTA 6 on PS5 Pro: What 'PS5 Pro Enhanced' Means

GTA 6 is listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced and Rockstar says it plays best on PS5. What that does and does not confirm about resolution, frame rate and whether to upgrade.

PlayStation’s official GTA VI page lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, and Rockstar’s trailer pages carry a Plays Best On PS5 badge. That is everything official. Neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what the Pro enhancement actually does.

What is confirmed

  • GTA VI launches on PS5, PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro on 19 November 2026.
  • The game carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label on PlayStation’s page.
  • PlayStation lists DualSense haptic feedback, the integrated controller speaker and Tempest 3D Audio support.
  • Rockstar says the Extended Look was captured in-game on PlayStation 5, without specifying the Pro.

What is not confirmed

  • Resolution targets on any PS5 model.
  • Frame-rate targets, including any 60fps mode.
  • Whether the Pro uses PSSR upscaling, extra ray tracing or higher detail.
  • Install size.

Press reports have described a 30fps target on base consoles, but that is not on Rockstar’s Newswire. Treat it as reported.

What “PS5 Pro Enhanced” usually means

Sony applies the label to games with Pro-specific work. Across other titles that has meant one or more of: higher resolution through PSSR, a higher or more stable frame rate, or extra ray-traced effects. It does not guarantee any specific one. For GTA VI, the detail will come at or after launch.

Should you upgrade?

  • You already own a PS5: you can play GTA VI at launch. Wait for launch-week comparisons before spending on a Pro purely for this game.
  • You are buying a console anyway: the Pro is the only PlayStation with confirmed GTA VI-specific enhancements and has a 2 TB SSD, which helps with an unannounced file size.
  • You are on Xbox: see GTA 6 on Xbox Series S for the other side.

Quick answers

Is GTA 6 enhanced for PS5 Pro?

Yes. PlayStation's official GTA VI page lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced. Sony and Rockstar have not published what the enhancement includes.

Does GTA 6 run at 60fps on PS5 Pro?

Not confirmed. Rockstar has not published frame-rate or resolution targets for any console. Press reports of 30fps on base consoles are not stated on Rockstar's Newswire.

Should I buy a PS5 Pro for GTA 6?

Only if you would buy one anyway. The enhancement details are unpublished, and the base PS5 is a confirmed launch platform. Wait for launch-day comparisons if the upgrade is purely for GTA 6.

Was the Extended Look captured on PS5 Pro?

Rockstar says the Extended Look was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. It did not say it was a PS5 Pro.
