Current official baseline

Rockstar's official GTA VI page currently lists Grand Theft Auto VI as coming 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That is the only launch-platform baseline Leonida Intel treats as confirmed. A PC version is widely expected by players because of Rockstar's history, but Rockstar has not announced one.

Confirmed launch platforms

Confirmed:

  • PlayStation 5.
  • Xbox Series X|S.

Not confirmed:

  • PC.
  • Steam.
  • Epic Games Store.
  • Rockstar Games Launcher.
  • Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Any last-generation console version.

If a retailer, creator or social post lists a PC date, edition, bonus or early-access window before Rockstar does, treat it as unverified.

Release timeline

The public release story has changed over time, so older articles and social posts can now be misleading.

  • December 2023: Trailer 1 revealed Leonida, Vice City and Lucia, with a 2025 window.
  • May 2025: Rockstar moved the launch out of 2025.
  • Current official position: 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Leonida Intel treats old 2025 and earlier 2026 dates as historical markers only. They are not current buying guidance.

PC status

PC is the biggest platform question.

Rockstar has often brought major games to PC after console release, including GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. That pattern makes a later PC version plausible, but it does not make it confirmed.

For now:

  • Do not buy hardware because a claimed GTA VI PC requirement sheet says so.
  • Do not trust store pages that imply a PC launch date without Rockstar confirmation.
  • Use PC requirement tools as forecasts only.
  • Keep pre-order and retailer alerts focused on the confirmed console versions until Rockstar says more.

Performance details

Rockstar has not published final performance modes, resolution targets, frame-rate targets, install size or graphics settings.

Reasonable expectations:

  • PS5 and Xbox Series X should receive the strongest console presentation.
  • Xbox Series S may use lower resolution or reduced visual settings.
  • SSD streaming should matter because the map appears dense and detailed.

Unconfirmed:

  • 30fps or 60fps modes.
  • Ray tracing settings.
  • Path tracing.
  • Exact install size.
  • Quality/performance mode names.
  • Cross-save or cross-play support.

Editions and pre-orders

Rockstar says GTA VI pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026. Take-Two confirms the Standard Edition at $79.99 US, the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 US, the Vintage Vice City Pack, a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders, and pre-load from 12 November 2026.

Current safe guidance:

  • Use official platform links first, then verify the final local store page before buying.
  • Treat the Standard and Ultimate edition baseline as official, but check your regional currency and seller terms.
  • Treat any Collector's Edition, paid early-access claim, extra retailer bonus, stock claim, or PC storefront as unconfirmed until it appears on a first-party or retailer page.
  • Check the refund policy before placing a pre-order.

What Rockstar has shown about the game

Confirmed public material supports:

  • The state of Leonida.
  • Vice City.
  • Jason and Lucia as central characters.
  • A modern setting.
  • Wildlife, beaches, nightlife, roads, vehicles and dense public spaces.
  • Named regions and locations shown through official trailers and the official GTA VI page.

What Rockstar has not released:

  • Full gameplay systems.
  • Online mode details.
  • Complete map dimensions.
  • Final mission list.
  • Full radio list.
  • Full vehicle, weapon and activity lists.

Buying advice

If you already own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, the main action is to compare official and regional store pages before choosing an edition.

If you do not own a console yet, wait unless you were already planning to buy one. Bundles, pricing, storage requirements and performance comparisons will become clearer closer to launch.

If you are a PC player, wait for Rockstar. A forecast can help you think about future upgrades, but it should not drive an expensive purchase until the PC version exists publicly.

Bottom line

The current confirmed answer is simple: GTA VI is listed for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders live from 25 June 2026. Standard and Ultimate pricing, the core pre-order bonus and pre-load timing are now official; PC, performance modes, local store terms, extra retailer bundles and collector products are still unannounced.
